The app Note is not as stable as Pages. I had a student lose his work this week.
1. Pages is better to store things
2. You should backup your important notes and assignments regularly. You can email them to yourself or edit from a cloud (google docs, box.net, icloud, etc.).
Since iPads don't have usb ports, you have to back up wirelessly.
